Welcome to our new look Website!!!

Despite having warm weather all year round in Uganda I still think of this time of year as summer, and with that I think of holidays and school term ending.

In June we were able to spend a wonderful week at the beach in Malindi, Kenya. The sand is soft and white and the ocean lovely and warm, although both children were nervous of the waves and would not go in the sea.

We had a wonderful time building sand castles, swimming in the pool, playing volley ball, reading and relaxing.

Joshua loved destroying the sand castles that daddy built and Amy insisted that one of us do water aerobics in the pool with her each day!

We ended the holiday with a weekend in Nairobi visiting some friends we know there, which was a real blessing.

We came back feeling refreshed and ready for what could be a very busy summer here in Kampala.

Most families take their furlough during the school holidays so those of us that are left behind often have to take on extra responsibilities. Pray for smooth running of the programme as several of those in management positions are gone this summer.

The Chief Engineer is gone for two months so Mark will be busy in the hangar along with the other engineers.

Sarah has just completed the last of her Speech Therapy assessments for the school year and will resume that in September. She will be writing the prayer update for the Uganda programme during the summer and is also busy acting as a ‘link person’, answering questions and helping to prepare for a new MAF engineer and his family (Luc & Malaina LeVesque) who are arriving in September from Canada.

We are awaiting the start of an exciting project in MAF Uganda…

The hangar is old and in the past has had temporary extensions added. The office and store rooms are currently made of old shipping containers. It is not really adequate for the needs of the engineering team and we are therefore hoping to build a new, purpose built facility near the old hangar in Kajjansi.

The whole project is going to cost $473,000 and we need to have ¾ of the funds before we can start building. A lot of money has come in but the donors of some of the money have set a time limit on when we must use it. We need to raise a further approximately $106, 900 (£53,500) by September in order that we can start building and so that we don’t lose any of the funds already pledged.

If you or someone you know would like to give to a specific project such as this then please get in touch with us for further details.
